Young People and Alcohol Study
SIPS JR-HIGH Young People and Alcohol study at Vale
Y10 will be taking part in a research study investigating whether young people would benefit from receiving advice during school time about their drinking behaviour. This study is being carried out by Teesside University to investigate whether young people would benefit from receiving advice during school time about their drinking behaviour. The researchers are trying to find out whether this advice may help them with reducing the harm caused by alcohol to young people.
All Y10 pupils will complete a written questionnaire during house time w/c 23 November and may be invited to take part in a subsequent advice session, during school time, about alcohol.
All Y10 parents will be receiving a letter in the post (from Professor Dorothy Newberry-Birch) explaining the study in more detail, as well as a research information leaflet . An opt out form will also be enclosed should you not agree to your child taking part, which must be sent to the Health and Social Care Institute using the freepost envelope provided.
If you have any further questionnaires please contact Miss Sullivan (Director of Learning: SMSC).
