Mock Court Trial Competitions

We're delighted to report that our team at the Mock Court Trial competition achieved second place! There were six schools in the local heat, all of which had participated before.

In Round 1 we were defending against The Ravensbourne School (who came third overall) - the defendant was found guilty.  In Round 2 we were prosecuting against The Priory School, with their defendant was found not guilty.  The verdict of the case was irrelevant to the scoring - it was the student's performance that determined the winner.

Our team was a mix of students in Year 8-11; all our students that took part will be presented with a certificate.

We also received this message from the magistrate supporting us on the day:

"I wanted to take this opportunity to write to you to let you know what a delight your students were to work along side today, I worked with them as the Magistrate mentor supporting them during the competition. All your students and I mean all, were polite, engaging, articulate and a credit to the school. The hard work your team put into the preparation was clear for all to see. I do hope we will see your school again, and please pass on my congratulations to the team."

Keep an eye out for a more detailed report from our official Court Reporter....
